By selling 175 pineapples, the gain is equal to the selling price of 50 pineapples. What is the gain percentage?

Solution

Let cost price of 1 pineapple = Rs. $$x$$ and selling price of 1 pineapple = Rs. $$y$$

=> Profit by selling 175 pineapples = Rs. $$175(y-x)$$

According to ques,

=> $$175(y-x)=50y$$

=> $$7y-7x=2y$$

=> $$7y-2y=5y=7x$$

=> $$\frac{y}{x}=\frac{7}{5}$$

Let $$y=7$$ and $$x=5$$

$$\therefore$$ Profit % = $$\frac{(y-x)}{x}\times100$$

= $$\frac{7-5}{5}\times100$$

= $$2\times20=40\%$$

=> Ans - (D)
