Two students appeared for an examination. One of them secured 10 marks more than the other and his marks were 75% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are

Solution

Let marks scored by 1st student = $$x$$

=> Marks scored by another student = $$(x + 10)$$

According to question, => $$(x + 10) = \frac{75}{100} \times (x + x + 10)$$

=> $$x + 10 = \frac{3}{2} \times (x + 5)$$

=> $$2x + 20 = 3x + 15$$

=> $$x = 20 - 15 = 5$$

$$\therefore$$ Marks scored by other student = 5 + 10 = 15
