Question 77

Two students appeared for an examination. One of them secured 21 marks more than the other and his marks were 80% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by them are

Let marks scored by 1st student = $$x$$

=> Marks scored by another student = $$(x + 21)$$

According to question, => $$(x + 21) = \frac{80}{100} \times (x + x + 21)$$

=> $$x + 21 = \frac{4}{5} \times (2x + 21)$$

=> $$5x + 105 = 8x + 84$$

=> $$8x - 5x = 105 - 84 = 21$$

=> $$x = \frac{21}{3} = 7$$

$$\therefore$$ Marks scored by other student = 7 + 21 = 28

=> Ans - (C)
