Question 77

If 4(x + 5) - 3 > 6 - 4x ≥ x - 5; then the value of x is

Solution

Expression 1 : 4(x + 5) - 3 > 6 - 4x

=> $$4x+20-3$$ > $$6-4x$$

=> $$4x+4x$$ > $$6-17$$

=> $$8x$$ > $$-11$$

=> $$x$$ > $$\frac{-11}{8}$$ ------------(i)

Expression 2 : 6 - 4x ≥ x - 5

=> $$x+4x \leq 6+5$$

=> $$5x \leq 11$$

=> $$x \leq \frac{11}{5}$$ --------------(ii)

Combining inequalities (i) and (ii), we get : $$\frac{-11}{8}$$ < $$x \leq \frac{11}{5}$$

The only value that $$x$$ can take among the options = 1

=> Ans - (B)
