Equation 1Â :Â 2x - 5y = 5
Equation 2Â :Â 2x - y = 9
Subtracting equation (i) from (ii), we get :
=> $$5y - y = 9 - 5$$
=> $$4y = 4$$ => $$y = 1$$
Substituting above value in equation(ii), => $$2x - 1 = 9$$
=> $$2x = 9 + 1 = 10$$
=> $$x = \frac{10}{2} = 5$$
$$\therefore (x-y) = 5-1 = 4$$
