A can do a work in 12 days and B in 24 days. If they work on it together for 4 days, then what fraction of work is left?

Solution

Let the total work = LCM of 12 & 24 = 24 units

A's efficiency = 24/12 = 2

B's efficiency = 24/24 = 1

In 1day they can complete 3 units of work

In 4days they can complete 12 units of work

work left =24-12 = 12 units

fraction of work left = 12/24 = 1/2

So the answewr is option B.
