Question 75

A car covers a certain distance moving at a constant speed of 50 km/h in 3 hours. How much more time would it have taken to cover the same distance if the speed had been only 40 km/h?

Solution

As we know,

Distance = $$Speed\times\ time$$

given, Speed = 50km/hr  , Time = 3 hr = 180 min (1hr = 60 min)

Distance = $$50\times\ 3=150\ km$$

If speed is 40 km/hr , now time taken,

Using same formula,

$$time\ =\ \frac{dis\tan ce}{speed}$$

= $$\frac{50}{40}=3.75\ $$ = 225 min

Required time difference  = 225 - 180 = 45 min

Hence. Option B is correct.
