If 50% of a certain number is equal to $$\frac{3}{4}^{th}$$ of another number, what is the ratio between the numbers?
Solution
Given, 50% of a number = $$\dfrac{3}{4}$$ of another number
50% = $$\dfrac{1}{2}$$
Let the two numbers be x and y
$$\dfrac{x}{2} = \dfrac{3}{4}y$$
=> $$2x = 3y$$
=> $$\dfrac{x}{y} = \dfrac{3}{2}$$
Therefore, x :Â y = 3 :Â 2.
