Question 73

The population of a town is increasing at the rate of 10% per year. If the present population of the town is 1,00,000, what will its population be 2 years from now?

Solution

If the present population of the town is 1,00,000.

present population of the town = 1,00,000

The population of a town is increasing at the rate of 10% per year.

population of the town after 2 years from now = 1,00,000 of (100+10)% of (100+10)%

= 1,00,000 of 110% of 110%

= $$1,00,000\times\frac{110}{100}\times\frac{110}{100}$$

= $$1000\times11\times11$$

= 121000
