Question 72

Select the number that will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following mathematical statement.

$$(9^{2} \times 27 + 3^{3} \times 7 + ?)^{\frac{1}{2}} = 59$$

Solution

Let's assume 'y' in place of the question mark.

$$(9^{2} \times 27 + 3^{3} \times 7 + y)^{\frac{1}{2}} = 59$$

Square on both sides.

$$(9^2\times27+3^3\times7+y)^{\frac{1}{2}\times\ 2}=59^2$$

$$(81\times27+27\times7+y)=3481$$

(2187+189+y) = 3481

2376+y = 3481

y = 3481-2376

= 1105
