Question 71

22 boys, working together, can complete a work in 10 days. whereas 25 boys and 12 girls take 8 days to complete the same work In how many days can only 6 girls, working together, complete the same work?

Solution

22 boys, working together, can complete a work in 10 days. whereas 25 boys and 12 girls take 8 days to complete the same work.

$$22B \times 10 = (25B+12G) \times 8$$

$$11B \times 5 = (25B+12G) \times 2$$

55B = 50B+24G

55B-50B = 24G

5B = 24G    Eq.(i)

Let's assume the time taken by 6 girls to complete the same work working together is 'y' days.

$$6G \times y = (25B+12G) \times 8$$

Put Eq.(i) in the above equation.

$$6G \times y = (24G\times5+12G) \times 8$$

$$3y = (120+12) \times 4$$

$$3y = 132\times 4$$

$$y = 44\times 4$$

y = 176
