Question 71

The perimeter of square is 48cm. The area of a rectangle is 4 $$cm^{2}$$ less than the area of the square .If the length of the rectangle is 14 cm. then its perimeter is:

Perimeter of square: 4 Γ— side length = 48 cmΒ  β†’ side length = 12 cm.

Area of square: Square of the side length = 12^2 = 144 cm^2

Area of rectangle: 4 cm^2 less than the area of the square, i.e. 144 - 4 = 140 cm^2

Area = length Γ— widthΒ

LengthΒ  = 14 cm

Area = 140

So, width = 140/14 = 10 cm

Perimeter of rectangle: 2 Γ— (14+10) = 48 cm
