In a mixture of 60 liters, milk and water are in the ratio 2:1. find the quantity of water to be added to make the ratio 4:3

Solution

Milk in the mixture $$=\frac{2}{3}\times60 =40$$

Water in the mixture$$=\frac{1}{3}\times60=20$$

Let x be the water added to the mixture

According to question,

$$\frac{40}{x+20}=\frac{4}{3}$$
$$\Rightarrow x = 10$$

Option B is correct.
