Question 71

If secA - tanA = x, then the value of x is

Solution

Expression : secA - tanA = x

Multiplying and dividing by $$(sec A + tan A)$$

= $$(sec A - tan A) \times \frac{sec A + tan A}{sec A + tan A}$$

= $$\frac{sec^2 A - tan^2 A}{sec A + tan A}$$

Using, $$sec^2 A - tan^2 A = 1$$

= $$\frac{1}{sec A + tan A}$$

=> Ans - (D)
