A : B = 5 : 8 and B : C = 11 : 13. If A = 110, then what is the value of C ?

Solution

Given, A : B = 5 : 8 -- (1)
B : C = 11 : 13 -- (2)
Multiplying (1) by 11 and (2) by 8
A : B = 55 : 88
B : C = 88 : 104
Then, A : B : C = 55 : 88 : 104
Let A, B and C be 55x, 88x and 104x
Given, 55x = 110 => x = 2
Then, C = 104x = 104*2 = 208
