Two students appeared for an examination. One student who scored 20 marks more than the other, his score was 60% of the sum of their marks. What was his score?
Let the scores of the two students be x and x+20 marks.
Given, $$x+20 = \dfrac{60}{100} \times (x+x+20)$$
=> $$x+20 = \dfrac{3}{5} \times (2x+20)$$
=> $$5x+100 = 6x+60$$
=> $$x = 40$$
Then, The student who got 20 marks more than the other got 40+20 = 60 marks
