Question 70

A sum of ₹15,250 is divided among Shrinza, Sheetal and Chirag such that Shrinza receives 40% more than Sheetal and Sheetal receives 40% less than Chirag. What is Chirag's share?

Solution

Sheetal receives 40% less than Chirag.

Let's assume the amount received by Chirag is '100y'.

amount received by Sheetal = 100y of (100-40)%

= 100y of 60%

= $$100y\times\frac{60}{100}$$

= 60y

Shrinza receives 40% more than Sheetal.

amount received by Shrinza = 60y of (100+40)%

= 60y of 140%

= $$60y\times\frac{140}{100}$$

= 84y

A sum of ₹15,250 is divided among Shrinza, Sheetal and Chirag.

84y+60y+100y = 15250

244y = 15250

y = 62.5

Chirag's share = 100y

= $$100\times62.5$$

= ₹6,250
