A alone can make a chair in 40 days and B alone can make the same chair in 24 days. If A and B are working on alternate days and A work on the first day, then in how many days the chair will be completed?
Let the total work be 120 units(LCM of 40 and 24)
Efficiency of A = 120/40 = 3 units per day
Efficiency of B = 120/24 = 5 units per day
They work on alternate days starting with A
Then, 8 units will be completed in 2 days.
Therefore, 120 units will be completed in $$\dfrac{120\times2}{8} = 30$$ days
