Question 7

DIRECTIONS for the question : In the following question three words are given below, which have something in common among themselves. Choose one out of the four given alternatives, which mentions the quality common to the three given words.

Harmattan : Chinook : Foehn

Harmattan: A very dry, dusty easterly or northeasterly wind on the West African coast, occurring from December to February. It is often called "The Doctor" because it brings relief from high humidity.

Chinook: A warm, dry wind that blows down the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in North America. It is known as the "Snow Eater" because it can melt large amounts of snow very quickly.

Foehn: A warm, dry, southerly wind off the northern slopes of the Alps in Europe. It is a rain-shadow wind that results from the subsequent adiabatic warming of air that has dropped most of its moisture on windward slopes.

Since all three are specific meteorological phenomena involving air movement, the common quality is that they are Winds (Option A).
