Solution

Given u : v = 4 : 7 -- (1)
v : w = 9 : 7 -- (2)
Multiplying (1) by 9 and (2) by 7
u : v = 36 : 63
v : w = 63 : 49
Then, u : v : w = 36 : 63 : 49
Let u, v, w be 36x, 63x and 49x respectively
Given 36x = 72 => x = 2
Then, w = 49x = 49$$\times$$2 = 98.
