Vishal goes to a shop to buy a radio costing Rs 2568. The rate of sales tax is 7%. He tells the shopkeeperto reduce the price of the radio to such an extent that he has to pay Rs 2568, inclusive of sales tax. Find the reduction needed in the price of the radio.

Solution

Let reduced price of the radio = Rs. $$x$$

=> Reduced Price + Sale tax = Rs. 2568

=> $$x+\frac{7x}{100}=2568$$

=> $$\frac{107x}{100}=2568$$

=> $$x=\frac{2568}{107}\times100$$

=> $$x=24\times100=2400$$

$$\therefore$$ Reduction needed = $$2568-2400=Rs.$$ $$168$$
