In a university, the number of students studying science, mathematics and language are in the ratio of 2:4:9. If the number of students in Science, Mathematics and Language be increased 10%, 20% and 40% respectively. What will be the new ratio?
Let x be the total number of students
The number of students studying science, mathematics and language are in the ratio of 2:4:9 = 20x:40x:90x
So if the number of students in Science, Mathematics and Language be increased 10%, 20% and 40% respectively,
New ratio will be $$=1.1\times 20x: 1.2\times 40x : 1.4\times 90x $$
$$= 22x: 48x : 63x = 11 : 24 :63$$Â
