Karan, Arjun, Preeti, Priya and Ashish are travelling in a car. Three years ago, the average age of Arjun, Preeti and Priya was 42 years. If the present age of Karan is 65 years and the present average age of all five is 50 years, then what is the present age of Ashish?

Let Ashish's present age = $$x$$ years
Average age of Arjun, Preeti and Priya 3 years ago = 42 years
=> Sum of present ages of Arjun, Preeti and Priya = $$(42+3)\times3=45\times3=135$$
Present age of Karan = 65 years
Average present age of all five persons = 50 years
=> Total age of five persons = $$50\times5=250$$ years
=> $$x+65+135=250$$
=> $$x=250-200=50$$ years
=> Ans - (A)
