An article was sold for Rs.3,600 at a discount of 10%. Find the selling price if the discount was 15%.

Let marked price = X 

Discount = 10% of X 

                = 0.1X

selling price = m.p - discount

                   = X - 0.1X

                    = 0.9 X

Given that S.P = Rs 3600

so,

3600 = 0.9X

X = RS4000

given 15% discount 

so, 10% of  4000 = 600

s.p = m.p - discount = 4000 - 600 = 3400
