Two students, A and B, appeared for an examination. A secured 8 marks more than B and the marks of the former was 55% of the sum of their marks. The marks obtained by A and B, respectively, are:
Let the marks secured by B be xÂ
so marks secured by A will be x+8
Now sum of marks = 2x+8
Now as per given condition :
0.55(2x+8) = x+8
we get 1.1x+4.4 =x+8
we get 0.1x = 3.6
x=36
so B secured 36
and A secured 36+8 = 44
