Find the total cost of painting the outside of a closed cuboidal box, which is 7 m long, 5m wide and 2m high, at the rate of ₹2.4 per $$m^{2}$$.

Solution

surface area of cuboidal box = $$2\left(length\times\ breadth+breadth\times\ height+height\times length\right)$$

= $$2\left(7\times\ 5+5\times2+2\times7\right)$$

= $$2\left(35+10+14\right)$$

= $$2\times\ 59$$

= 118 $$m^2$$

rate of painting = ₹2.4 per $$m^{2}$$

total cost of painting the outside of a closed cuboidal box = $$118\times2.4$$

= ₹283.2
