By selling a used phone for ₹ 7,260 Sanjan got 34% less than what it cost him to buy it a few years ago. At what price should Sanjan have sold the phone to gain a profit of 5%?

Solution

Sanjan got 34% less means (100 - 34)%.

So 66% = 7260

1% = $$\frac{7260}{66}$$ = 110

Hence 105% = $$110\times105$$

= 11550
