A 250 metre long train takes 30 seconds to cross a 350 metres long bridge. How much time train will take to cross a 550 metre long bridge?
Solution
Length of the train = 250 m
Length of the first bridge = 350 m
Total distance to be travelled to cross the bridge = 250+350 = 600 m
Then, Speed of the train = $$\dfrac{600}{30} = 20 m/sec$$
Length of the second bridge = 550 m
Total distance = 550+250 = 800 m
Then, Time taken = $$\dfrac{800}{20} = 40$$ seconds
