Two numbers are in the ratio 7 : 9. On diminishing each of them by 20, the new ratio becomes 3 : 5. The difference between the original numbers is:
let the numbers be 7x and 9x
(7x-20)/(9x-20)=3/5
35x-100=27x-60
8x=40
x=5
Difference=2x
=10
