An article is sold for ₹ 612 after successive discounts of 25% and 15%. What is the marked price ofthe article?
Let the marked price of the article =x Rs
It is that there are two successive discounts of 25% and 15%.
Hence the new price of the article $$\Rightarrow x \times \dfrac{75}{100} \times \dfrac{85}{100}=612$$
$$\Rightarrow (x) \times \dfrac{3}{4} \times \dfrac{17}{20}=612$$
$$\Rightarrow \dfrac{51x}{80}=612$$
$$\Rightarrow 51x=612\times 80$$
$$\Rightarrow x=\dfrac{612\times 80}{51}$$
$$\Rightarrow x=12\times 80$$
$$\Rightarrow x=960$$Rs
