Solution

Let cost price of a watch = $$Rs. x$$

Selling price of a watch = $$Rs. y$$

=> Selling price of 4 watches = $$Rs. 4y$$

According to ques, => $$9(y - x) = 4y$$

=> $$9y - 9x = 4y$$

=> $$5y = 9x$$

=> $$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{5}{9}$$

Let Cost price, $$x = 5$$ and selling price, $$y = 9$$

$$\therefore$$ Profit % = $$\frac{y - x}{x} \times 100$$

= $$\frac{9 - 5}{5} \times 100$$

= $$4 \times 20 = 80\%$$
