A bag contains one-rupee, 50-paise and 25-paise coins in the ratio 5:6:8. If the total amount of money in the bag is ₹250, find the number of 50-paise coins in the bag?
Let the number of 1-rupee coins, 50-paise coins, and 25-paise coins in the bag be 5x, 6x, and 8x respectively, where x is a common factor.
The total value of the coins is ₹250.
The value of 1-rupee coins = 5x × 1 = 5x rupees.
The value of 50-paise coins = 6x × 0.50 = 3x rupees.
The value of 25-paise coins = 8x × 0.25 = 2x rupees.
The total value is the sum of all these values:
5x + 3x + 2x = 250
10x = 250
x = 25
Number of 50-paise coins = 6 × 25 = 150
