Raghavendra sells a machine for Rs 43 lakhs at a loss. Had he sold it for Rs 52 lakh, his gain would have been 5 times the former loss. Find the cost price of the machine.
Let cost price of the machine = Rs. $$x$$ lakhs
When selling price = Rs. 43 lakhs
=> Loss = Rs. $$(x - 43)$$ lakhs
If selling price = Rs. 52 lakhs
=> Profit = Rs. $$(52 - x)$$ lakhs
According to ques, Profit = 5 $$\times$$ loss
=> $$(52 - x) = 5 \times (x - 43)$$
=> $$52 - x = 5x - 215$$
=> $$5x + x = 215 + 52 = 267$$
=> $$x = \frac{267}{6} = $$ Rs. $$44.5$$ lakhs
