Question 59

The average of P1 , P2 and P3 is 50. If the value of P1 is half of the average, then what is the average of P2 and P3?

Solution

The average of P1 , P2 and P3 is 50.

P1+P2+P3 = $$50\times3$$ = 150    Eq.(i)

If the value of P1 is half of the average.

P1 = $$\frac{50}{2}$$ = 25    Eq.(ii)

Put Eq.(ii) in Eq.(i).

25+P2+P3 = 150

P2+P3 = 150-25 = 125

Average of P2 and P3 = $$\frac{125}{2}$$

= 62.5
