Mandeep works 3 times as fast as Sampat. If Sampat can complete a job alone in 60 days, then in how many days can they together finish the job?

Solution

Let total work to be done = 60 units

Sampat can complete a job alone in 60 days

=> Sampat's efficiency = $$\frac{60}{60} = 1$$ unit/day

Also, Mandeep works 3 times as fast as Sampat

=> Mandeep's efficiency = $$3 \times 1=3$$ units/day

(Sampat+Mandeep)'s 1 day's work together = 1 + 3 = 4 units/day

$$\therefore$$ Time taken by them to finish the job together = $$\frac{60}{4} = 15$$ days
