A bag contains 5 rupee, 2 rupee, 1 rupee and 50 paise coins in the proportion 1 : 2 : 3 : 4. If the total amount in the bag is ₹168, then how many 50 paise coins are there?

Solution

Let the coins of 5 rupee, 2 rupee, 1 rupee and 50 paise coins be x ,2x , 3x and 4x.

A/c to question ,

5x + 4x + 3x + $$\frac{4x}{2}$$ = 168

x = 12

Number of 50 paise coins = 4x = 4 $$\times$$ 12 = 48

So, the answer would be option d)48.
