Question 57

The present ages of A and B are in the ratio 3 : 5. If A's present age is 33 years, then what will be B's age (in years) after 5 years?

Solution

The present ages of A and B are in the ratio 3 : 5.

Let's assume the present ages of A and B are 3y and 5y respectively.

If A's present age is 33 years.

A's present age = 3y = 33

y = 11

B's present age = 5y = $$5\times11$$ = 55 years

B's age (in years) after 5 years = (55+5) years = 60 years
