Question 57

The monthly incomes of A and B are ₹12000 and ₹15000 respectively. The monthly expenditure of A is ₹8000. If the ratio of the monthly expenditures of A and B is 2 : 3, then what is the sum of their monthly savings?

Solution

Total Income = Total Expenditure + Total Saving

As given the total income of A is 12000 and total expenditure is 8000,

So, Total saving of A = 12000-8000=4000.

Given Ratio of monthly expenditure of A and B = 2:3

therefore, from this we get monthly expenditure of B = $$\frac{3}{2}$$ $$\times{8000}$$= 12000.

From question we know that monthly income of B is 15000.

So,Total savings of B = 15000-12000=3000.

Hence the total savings of A and B = 3000+4000=7000.

option (a) is correct.
