If the ratio of ages of A and B is 5 : 6 and sum of their ages is 55, what is the age of A?

Solution

ratio of ages of A and B is 5 : 6

sum of theire ages = 5x + 6x = 11x

11x == 55

$$ x = \frac{55}{11} = 5 $$

age of A = $$ 5 \times 5 = 25 $$
