A mixture contains milk and water in the ratio of 4 : 3. When 5 liters of water is added to this mixture, the ratio of milk and water becomes 6 : 7. The quantity of milk in the mixture is:

Solution

Let quantity of milk and water be $$4x$$ and $$3x$$ litres respectively.

According to ques,

=> $$\frac{4x}{3x+5}=\frac{6}{7}$$

=> $$28x=18x+30$$

=> $$28x-18x=10x=30$$

=> $$x=\frac{30}{10}=3$$

$$\therefore$$ Quantity of milk = $$4\times3=12$$ litres

=> Ans - (A)
