A dishonest dealer professes to sell his goods at cost price but uses a weight of 875 gms for the kilogram weight. His gain in percentage is
Let the cost price of the shopkeeper = Rs. 1000/kg
=> He buys 1 gm for Rs. 1
Since, he uses false weight of 875 gms, selling price = Rs. 1000/875 gm
=> He sells 1 gm for = $$\frac{1000}{875}=Rs.$$ $$\frac{8}{7}$$
$$\therefore$$ Profit % = $$\frac{SP-CP}{CP} \times 100$$
= $$\frac{\frac{8}{7}-1}{1} \times 100$$
= $$\frac{100}{7}=14\frac{2}{7}\%$$
