The diameter of an iron ball used for shot-put is 21 cm. It is melted and then a cylinder of height 3.5 cm is made. The curved surface area of the cylinder will be:
(Take $$\pi=\frac{22}{7}$$)
Volume of Sphere = Volume of Cylinder
$$\dfrac{4}{3}\pi\ r^3=\pi\ r^2h$$
$$\dfrac{4}{3}\pi\ \left(\dfrac{21}{2}\right)^3=\pi\ r^2\left(3.5\right)$$
$$r=21\ cm$$
Curved Surface Area = $$2\pi\ rh$$
$$2\times\dfrac{22}{7}\times21\times3.5=462\ cm^2$$
