The bus fare between two cities is increased in the ratio 5:11. Find the increase in the fare, if the original fare is Rs. 275.

Solution

Let original fare = Rs. $$5x$$

=> New fare = Rs. $$11x$$

Also, original fare = $$275 = 5x$$

=> $$x = \frac{275}{5} = 55$$

$$\therefore$$ Increase in fare = $$11x - 5x = 6x $$

= $$6 \times 55 = Rs. 330$$

=> Ans - (C)
