Note-books are bought at 16 for ₹700 and sold at 11 for ₹500. How many notebooks should be sold to gain ₹450?

Solution

Cost price of each book =Rs 700/16
Selling price of each book=Rs 500/11
Profit on each book=(500/11)-(700/16)
=100(3/176)
Total profit=450
let the number of books required be 'n'
Therefore n*300/176 =450
n=88*3
n=264 books
