Question 54

The heights of six people are given as 6 feet 6 inches, 6 feet, 5 feet 8 inches, 6 feet 2 inches, 6 feet 4 inches, and 5 feet 10 inches, respectively. Find the average height of these six people.

Solution

average height of these six people = $$\frac{sum\ of\ the\ height\ of\ six\ people}{number\ of\ people}$$

= $$\frac{6\ feet\ 6inches\ +6\ feet\ +5\ feet\ 8\ inches+6\ feet\ 2inches+6\ feet\ 4\ inches+5\ feet\ 10\ inches}{6}$$

= $$\frac{34\ feet\ 30\ inches}{6}$$

We know that 1 feet = 12 inches. Then 2 feet = 24 inches.

= $$\frac{36\ feet\ 6\ inches}{6}$$

= 6 feet 1 inch
