Ina class of 50 students, 40% are girls. The average marks of the wholeclass are 64.4 and the average of the boys’ marks is 62. Whatis the average marksof the girls?

Solution

Number of girls = 40% of 50 = 20

Number of boys = 30

Total marks of girls = $$64.4 \times 50 - 62\times 30$$ = 3220 - 1860 = 1360

Average marks for girls = $$\frac{1360}{20}$$= 68

So , the answer would be option d)68.
