A mixture of 40 litres of milk and water contains 10% water. How much water should be added to this so that water may be 20% in the new mixture?

In mixture: 40 l

Milk = 36 l

Water = 4 l

Let x amount of water be added, so

4 + x = 20/100 (40 + x)

Solving for x, we get

x = 5 litres
