Question 53

The diameter of a circle is 42 cm. What is the difference between the lengths of the circumference and the radius of the circle? [Use $$\pi = \frac{22}{7}$$]

Solution

The diameter of a circle is 42 cm.

diameter of a circle = $$2\times\ radius\ =\ 42$$

So the radius of a circle = 21 cm

Difference between the lengths of the circumference and the radius of the circle = $$2\times\pi\ \times radius-radius$$

= $$2\times\frac{22}{7}\times21-21$$

= $$2\times22\times3-21$$

= $$132-21$$

= 111 cm
