A man sold an article for Rs. 450, after allowing a discount of 16 2/3 % on the printed price. What is that printed price?
Let the printed price = Rs. $$x$$
Discount % = $$16\frac{2}{3}=\frac{50}{3}\%$$
Selling price = Rs. 450
=> Discount % = $$\frac{MP-SP}{MP} \times 100$$
=> $$\frac{x-450}{x} \times 100=\frac{50}{3}$$
=> $$\frac{x-450}{x}=\frac{1}{6}$$
=> $$6x-2700=x$$
=> $$6x-x=5x=2700$$
=> $$x=\frac{2700}{5}=Rs.$$ $$540$$
