Question 53

A is 20% more than B, B is 25% more than C, C is 60% less than D and D is 20% more than E.
Based on the above information, which of the following is true?

Solution

A is 20% more than B =$$\frac{120}{100}$$ B=$$\frac{6}{5}$$ B

In the Same way B is 25% more than C=$$\frac{125}{100}$$ C=$$\frac{5}{4}$$ C

C is 60% less than D=$$\frac{100-60}{100}$$=$$\frac{40}{100}$$=$$\frac{2}{5}$$ D

B=$$\frac{5}{4}$$ C

Where C=$$\frac{2}{5}$$ D

B=$$\frac{5}{4}$$×$$\frac{2}{5}$$D

B=$$\frac{1}{2}$$D

Substitute B value in A then

A=$$\frac{6}{5}$$ B

A=$$\frac{6}{5}$$ × $$\frac{1}{2}$$D

A=$$\frac{3}{5}$$ D

A=60% of D

Therefore A is 40% less than D
